Labor Markets in Southern Africa: Evidence and Policy Lessons conference & Short Course on Program Evaluation conducted in Lusaka Zambia update.

The conference was organized by IZA/DFID and Program on Growth and Labor Market in Low - Income Countries. The conference involved participants from different countries in Africa, Australia, Germany, USA.

Labor Markets in Southern Africa: Evidence and Policy Lessons conference

In a snap shot. the Labor Market in Southern Africa and Sub Saharan Africa: Evidence and Policy Lessons conference discussed in detail how labor policies in the Africa and Worldwide featured to address labor market challenges and uncertainties. In context of Africa, more effort still needed to understand in detail the parameters of unemployment.
Based on this conference, there is still a great opportunities for researchers and RDN Platform members to leverage their expertise in Labor Market.

Short Course on Program Evaluation
The evaluation program aimed to equip experts with skills on: design and analysis of randomized controlled trials; propensity score matching methods; difference-in-difference estimators; regression discontinuity designs. The focus of the course was on application of these methods to the evaluation of labor market related programs, including skills training programs by using Stata Software.
