Dear RDN Members,
University of The Gambia (UTG), in collaboration with key partners (NARI, NaNA, MRC (UK), WFP, FAO, WHO, UNICEF, etc), is organizing an International Conference on Nutrition, Food Security & Agriculture from 15 - 17 March 2017. The convenor is Prof Dr Faqir Muhammed Anjum, Vice Chancellor of UTG and a distinguished expert in Food Science & Nutrition.
IN THE POST-2015 Sustainable Development agenda, the issues of population health and nutrition, gender, food security, climate change adaptation have become very important and urgent matters to think through, plan, implement and monitor for progress. Particularly for sub-Saharan Africa, the many challenges of sustainable development hinge on agriculture, population and food security. This timely conference aims to bring experts, policy makers, national and transnational stakeholders, to deliberate and chart the way forward, taking advantage of recent global interest in the subject of food security and population nutrition and agriculture.
The key themes include
1.Demographic transition, Nutrition & Health in Africa
2. Social & Institutional reforms/innovations for improved agricultural productivity
3. Climate change, gender and food security
4. Good practices: technical innovations for better yields & value chains in Agriculture
Structured abstracts (maimum 400 words) should be submitted as Microsoft word document, indicating title, author’s name, organization, and address and emailed to icfsan2017@utg.edu.gm. Please note that acceptance of abstracts will be conditional on registration paid in full prior to the Conference.
