TOPIC: Top priorities for the Africa continent in 2017

The Brookings Africa Growth Initiative findings explore six overarching themes that provide opportunities for Africa to overcome its obstacles to spur fruitful and inclusive growth. These six interconnected and cross-cutting themes includes:-
1. Mobilizing Financial Resources(Strategies to manage the commodity slump and attract investment)
2. Increasing Employment Opportunities (Navigating Africa’s complex job market)
3. Boosting Transformational Technology (Creating supportive environments for game-changing innovations)
4. Bolstering Urbanization Efforts (Africa’s approach to the New Urban Agenda)
5. Confronting Climate Change (Africa’s leadership on an increasingly urgent issue)
6. Upholding Good Governance (Democracy, elections, and local institutions under political and social uncertainty)

I hope the findings have touched key areas and will provide a shade in implementation of different strategies in our countries. I encourage members to visit report and drop their observations.

This is a great report indeed. I would like to share my view basing on employment increase opportunity.
Many youth are self employed in agriculture sector but there are thing that discourages them like low technology, connection and lack knowledge of market . If they access inputs at low price, get connected to professionals, am very sure many will be self-employed and lot of job opportunities will be created hence reduction of poverty in the economy.
Young entrepreneurs can create jobs and wealth in their communities and this is a catalyst to transforming the rural economy in Africa. Innovations in food and agriculture as well as the energy sector are critical to changing the fortunes of the rural dwellers. Soft skills are also important in order for the young entrepreneurs to succeed in their Business Models.
Therefore, energy from the young entrepreneurs and the wisdom from the old is also an important mix which can lead to new behaviors in agriculture and other sectors. Lastly, an innovative idea is but a step in a series of steps to redress unemployment, poverty and hunger problems in Africa.
